Description
The wall and gatepiers surrounding the courtyard in front of Walhampton House were constructed around 1911, with some elements dating back to the 18th century. The structure features a brick wall with half-round ridge tile sections and stone piers. The wall begins at the corners of the original building and stands 2 meters high, with stone piers placed every 3 meters. It extends forward for 30 meters and includes two pairs of large 3-meter tall 18th-century gatepiers, which have various shaped stages and are topped with ball finials. Between the gatepiers, there is a bowed wall made of stacked ridge tiles that forms a pierced wall, running parallel to the house.
