Description
This is a farmhouse and barn, early 18th century, located in Loweswater, owned by Rev R.H. Watkins. The farmhouse features roughcast walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, with roughcast chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has two bays, with the barn to the right being taller and longer. The farmhouse has a plank door set in a plain opening, which is sheltered by a gabled stone porch that includes internal side seats. There are two-light flat stone-mullioned windows, one of which has an 18-paned casement. The stable door on the right is recessed beneath external slate steps leading to a granary-hayloft door above. The barn has large central plank doors and a blocked loft doorway, with a right loft opening that features a slate shelf over the blocked door. The right return wall of the barn has projecting drip slates.
