Description
This is a late 18th-century house with a rear stable block, dated and inscribed "J&RS 1797" above the rear doorway, and altered in the mid-19th century. The house is constructed of painted stucco with distinctive V-jointed quoins, set beneath a graduated greenslate roof with coped gables, a kneeler on the left side, and ball finials on the right wing. Stucco chimney stacks are also present. The main building is two storeys and five bays wide, with a projecting gabled wing to the right and a lower, recessed single-bay extension on the left. An L-shaped stable block adjoins the rear. An off-centre double door is located within a pillared porch. The windows are sash windows with partial glazing bars, set within painted stone architraves. Some windows have been replaced – a bay window on the left side and a large ground-floor bay window to the right wing, below a mid-19th century three-light window. The left-hand extension has a sash window with partial glazing bars within a painted stone surround, now partly hidden by a conservatory. The stable block features a segmental-arched doorway with a dated keystone.
