Description
Godferhead Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with an extension that is dated and inscribed over the doorway as RS 1773. The building features painted roughcast walls on projecting plinth stones, with the extension also in painted roughcast, complete with an eaves cornice and V-jointed quoins. Both sections are topped with a graduated greenslate roof and have roughcast chimney stacks.
The original house is low, with two storeys and two bays, while the extension, which is at right angles to the original, is higher, with two storeys and three bays. The original house has two- and three-light stone-mullioned windows on the ground floor, which are sheltered by a continuous hood, and two-light stone-mullioned windows on the upper floor. The extension features a glazed and panelled door set in a pilastered surround beneath an open segmental pediment, along with sash windows that have glazing bars in painted stone architraves.
On the right return wall of the original house, there is a plank door in a 19th-century painted stone surround. At the rear, a contemporary outshut has small casement windows in original plain reveals, and the rear of the extension includes a round-headed staircase window with radial glazing bars.
