Description
The Middle Unnamed House is part of a group of three houses owned by Reverend R.H. Watkins. It dates from the early 18th century and has undergone alterations and additions, with a date of 1790 marked above the side entrance. The house features cement roughcast walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, with cement rendered chimney stacks. The extension is constructed from similar materials but includes V-jointed quoins, an eaves cornice, and coped gables with kneelers.
The original house has two low storeys and four bays, while the extension has two higher storeys and three bays, creating an overall L-shape. The original section includes a plank door set in a painted stone surround, topped with a dated and inscribed lintel. To the left, there is another plank door in a plain opening, sheltered by a slate hood. The flat stone two-light mullioned windows feature 18-pane casements on the left side, along with one enlarged sash window with glazing bars in a painted stone surround. The extension has a top-glazed panelled door with an overlight, also in a painted stone surround, and sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone surrounds. The right return wall is notable for a large round-headed staircase window.
