Description
Muncaster House is a house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble and features a Lakeland slate roof with a stone ridge, gable copings, and square kneelers, along with rendered end and off-centre chimneys. The building may have originally served as both a house and a cottage.
It has two storeys, comprising one narrow bay and two wider bays. The right-hand section, which is the house part, includes a central six-panelled door set within a round-arched iron trellis porch. The windows have been replaced and feature thin glazing bars within painted stone surrounds. The rear elevation displays a round-headed staircase window with a Y-traceried head and small fire windows to the left, while other windows are 19th-century sashes. There is a small pentice at the rear, along with additional pent extensions and projections at both ends, all made from similar materials. The interior has not been seen.
