Description
Rose Castle is a house that may date from the late 18th century or the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed slate with large quoins, while the left return is roughcast, and it features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays, with end pilaster buttresses and crow-stepped gables. A slate dripcourse steps over the porch. The windows are pointed and have large voussoirs, with casements. The entrance features a similar design, including a gabled open timber porch with a plank door. On the left return, there is a projecting gable-end stack, which is corbelled out at the top, and has a round shaft on a square base. The rear of the house includes a small lean-to outshut, with windows positioned under dripcourses. Inside, there is a wood food cupboard in the angle. The property is owned by The National Trust.
