Description
This building is a barn and cow house located to the south-east of Sawrey Ground Farmhouse, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof. The structure is L-shaped, with the cow house wing facing the farmhouse. The barn consists of four bays supported by cruck trusses, with collars and one tie beam; the principal rafters are set into the backs of the crucks. The bay next to the cow house is raised. The entrance on the south-west side has smaller doors beneath a small-paned overlight, with a window to the left. The rear side has a partially blocked entrance with a pivoted door and a gable-end entrance. The cow house wing shows evidence of raised eaves and has two entrances on the north-west side, along with gable-end ventilation slots for the loft. The rear displays signs of a demolished wing, with an entrance to the left and a blocked pitching hole. Inside, there are two tie beam trusses.
