Description
Formerly known as Mayson's Shop, this building dates from around 1900 and features a shop with a glazed frontage and a studio or workshop on the upper storey, which is the same height as the ground floor. The design is a rudimentary commercial classical style, consisting of three bays with modified pilasters and three-light sash windows in each bay on the upper storey. The ground floor has a recessed entrance in the middle bay, flanked by two-light show windows. The eaves are supported by wide-spaced brackets, and the roof is a truncated pyramid shape, covered with slate and adorned with ridge decoration and finials. To the left, there is a single-storey extension with a pedimental panel above, and to the right, a three-bay extension featuring a three-panel parapet. The building is valued for its unaltered condition, particularly the interior, which includes a showcase counter and stop-chamfered wooden columns.
