Description
The Moot Hall is a historic building located at the south end of Main Street in Keswick. The original structure dates back to 1571, was rebuilt in 1695, and the present building was completed in 1813. It features lime-washed stone and slate walling, with stone dressings and quoins. A square tower is situated at the north end, which includes a round-arched doorway accessed by a double flight of steps with wrought iron railings. Above the doorway, there is a half-moon window and a clock face or blind circle. The top cornice is adorned with a pagoda roof that has a windvane. The side facades each have three round-arched windows above and three round arches below, which were formerly open but are now barred. The building is scheduled for preservation.
