Description
The George Hotel is said to be the oldest inn in Keswick, originally dating from the 16th century but now appearing in a late Georgian style. The building features scored stucco with quoins and stands three storeys tall. It has a flush-panelled door set within a pilastered doorcase, topped by a round arched fanlight that includes Gothic glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two windows, while each upper floor has three sash windows, all framed in plain stone architraves. To the right, there is an additional portion of the building that is similar in style but has a plain doorway and an extra bay at the right-hand end.
