Description
High Arnside Farmhouse and Cottage is a Grade II listed building located in Skelwith, built in 1697 as indicated by a spice cupboard. The structure is made of painted stone rubble and features a slate roof. It consists of two houses, with the first two bays forming the current farmhouse, which was originally stables. The cottage has a slate drip course over the ground floor and features casement windows, including a fire window on the left side. There are two entrances, one of which is located in a large gabled porch. The rear of the building has a gabled projection, and it is topped with two gable-end stacks and a cross-axial stack. Inside, the property boasts plank and muntin partitions, panelled doors, and a spice cupboard door with decorative panels. The property is owned by the National Trust and was a gift from Beatrix Potter.
