Description
High Park Farmhouse and its outbuilding are a house and outbuilding dating from the 17th century, with a kitchen wing added in the mid 18th century. The structure is built of painted stone rubble and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a lean-to outhouse on the left side. The windows feature slate dripcourses above and are casements. There is a central entrance with a slate gabled canopy and gable-end stacks. At the rear, the kitchen wing is connected to an outbuilding that includes an end barn, and there is a cross-axial stack serving the house. Inside, the partitions have fielded panels and a dado rail, while the beams above are adorned with dentilled cornices. One room contains a spice cupboard with a fielded-panel door. The staircase features stick balusters and rectangular newels, with a timber arch at the bottom. The property is owned by the National Trust and was a gift from Beatrix Potter.
