Description

Low Oxen Fell Cottage is an 18th-century house located in Skelwith Oxen Fell. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a slate roof. The cottage is one storey high and consists of two bays. The windows are casements, with the one in the second bay being small and having an iron opening light. There is a central entrance that includes a later timber porch. The left side of the cottage has a gable-end stack and a small attic window, while the rear has an additional window. This building is a rare example of a one-room cottage plan. It is owned by the National Trust and was gifted by Beatrix Potter.
