Description

High Park Cottages consists of two houses and an outbuilding, likely dating from the 17th century and later. The buildings are constructed from painted stone rubble and feature a slate roof. They are two storeys high and have four bays, with the fourth bay probably added later. There is a projecting slate course over the ground floor. The windows are casements, with fire windows in the first and fourth bays. Entrances are located between the second and third bays, and there is an additional entrance to the fourth bay. The cottages have two cross-axial stacks and an outbuilding to the left. The rear of the property has varied small windows and a projection under a cat slide roof, with one window featuring a two-light wood mullioned frame. The outbuilding has large doors. Inside, there is a plank and muntin partition and a late 17th-century door, along with an unglazed wood mullioned window that is now internal. The property is owned by the National Trust, a gift from Beatrix Potter.
