Description
Town Head and the adjoining former stable is a farmhouse and former stable dating from the late 17th century, with a reused dated lintel on the barn from 1695. Alterations were made in 1759, as inscribed above the entrance. The building is constructed of squared and coursed mixed sandstone with flush quoins, topped by a graduated greenslate roof featuring coped gables and kneelers, along with painted rendered chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high and consists of two bays, with a single-bay extension to the right and a former single-bay stable to the left, all under a common roof. The main entrance features a four-panel door in a painted stone surround, while sash and casement windows are also set in painted stone surrounds. The extension includes a kitchen doorway and an enlarged ground-floor window. The stable has a plank door and a loft door. Inside, there is a beamed ceiling, a heck partition, and a firebeam.
