Description
Dash Farmhouse and the adjoining barn/byre date from the mid or late 18th century, incorporating elements from a late 17th or early 18th century farmhouse. The building features painted incised render with V-jointed painted quoins and an eaves cornice on a chamfered plinth. It has a graduated greenslate roof with kneelers at the rear and end stone chimney stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an L-shaped barn/byre to the right that shares a common roof line. The front has a 20th-century door and sash windows set in 19th-century painted stone surrounds. At the rear, there is a panelled door in a painted chamfered surround, along with sash windows, some in painted chamfered surrounds and others in 19th-century surrounds, as well as a small chamfered-surround pantry window. The byre features a half-plank door and a 20th-century casement window beneath a loft door accessed by projecting slate steps. The barn has plank doors. Inside the house, the ground floor includes built-in panelled and pilastered cupboards flanking a 20th-century fireplace. There is an 18th-century broad stone staircase at the rear. The external wall of the original house now serves as an internal dividing wall. The rear bedroom retains remnants of a hood and chimney breast from a now-removed fireplace that was located in the kitchen below.
