Description
Hollin Bank Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or early 18th century, with later additions. It is constructed of stone rubble with roughcast on the front and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, although the first bay is a later addition and has no windows on the front. The second bay features a casement window and a fire window to the left, both with small-paned fixed glazing and an opening pane. The third bay has a pivoted small-paned casement window. On the first floor, there is a small light above the porch. The entrance to the third bay is marked by a gabled slate slab porch. The cottage has a squat cross-axial stack and gable-end stacks. The right side of the building has casement windows with slate dripcourses and a lean-to outshut, while the end bay includes a large gabled half-dormer. Inside, the cottage features chamfered beams, a corbelled fireplace, a rear winding stair, and possibly upper cruck trusses.
