Description
This building is a barn located to the east of High Waterhead, likely dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of stone and features a slate roof. The south facade includes an open gallery under a pentice roof at the eastern end, which is elevated due to the slope of the ground. To the west, there is a former entrance that has been converted into a window, flanked by additional windows that may have been part of a former stable. The central entrance is situated beneath the continuation of the pentice roof, and the gallery is supported by timber posts and rail. The lower level of the barn has two entrances, one of which features vertical slots. On the rear side, there are central barn doors with an outshut to the left. The east gable end includes a lean-to outshut. This property is owned by The National Trust and was a gift from Beatrix Potter.
