CONISTON SD 39 NW 5/63 Atkinson Ground 25.3.70 Farmhouse and attached cottages (formerly listed with Atkinson Ground House)

3 houses. C17 or early C18 with later alterations. Roughcast stone with slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays, the lst bay is lower. Dripcourse to central 3 bays. Most windows are sashed with single glazing bars and horns. 1st bay and ground floor of 2nd bay have large windows with C20 casements. 5th bay of 1st floor has casement window with iron opening light. Entrance to 3rd bay has slate slab porch, wide-board door. Entrance to 5th bay has slate gabled canopy and glazed door. Gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. Rear has lean-to outshut and stair wing under cat slide roof; gabled wing; casements, entrance with gabled open porch. Right return has gabled trellis porch. Interior of farmhouse has plank and muntin and stud and plaster partitions, spice cupboard and adjacent cupboard with doors.
