CONISTON B5285 SD 39 NW (North-west side) Boon Crag and 5/97 adjoining barn GV II

2 houses and barn. Possibly C17 or C18. Stone rubble witn slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, the 1st and 2nd bays project and are gabled. Some slate dripcourses to 1st and 2nd bays. Windows are varied, some with slate-hung lintels, most with casements; one sashed window with glazing bars and horns to 2nd bay of 1st floor. 3rd bay has fire window and 1st floor window in gabled half dormer. Entrance to 1st bay has gabled slate hood; entrance to 3rd bay is recessed. Gable-end stack to 2nd bay is corbelled out on iron girder; gable-end stack to 3rd bay has round shaft. Left return has central barn doors with windows to right; rear gable-end has ventilation slots. Rear has gabled wing. Included for group value.
