Description
School Bank Cottage and the adjoining barn are a farmhouse and barn dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The buildings feature painted limestone rubble walls and are topped with a graduated green slate roof, which includes rendered chimney-stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays, while the barn, which has three bays, shares a common roof with the cottage.
The central entrance of the cottage consists of a glazed panelled door set within a 19th-century painted stone surround. To the left, there is a three-light flat-stone-mullioned window, and to the right, a sash window also in a 19th-century painted stone surround, situated beneath a two-light flat-stone-mullioned window. The barn features a cross-passage doorway closest to the house, fitted with a 20th-century door in a painted stone surround. Additionally, there is a central segmental-arched cart entrance, a plank door to the left, and a casement window to the right, all within painted stone surrounds.
