Description
Fair Rigg Farmhouse and the attached barn are located in Staveley-in-Cartmel and date back to the late 17th century, before 1704. The farmhouse is built of roughcast stone and features a slate roof. It has two storeys and five bays, with the fifth bay being shallower and wider, likely originally serving as a stable. On the ground floor, there is a casement window and a French window in the fifth bay. The first floor has sashed windows with vertical glazing bars, while the fifth bay features a casement window. The gabled porch includes a braced and ledged inner door with strap hinges. There are three gable-end stacks. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing with a cross-axial stack and two sashed windows, along with additional casement windows. Inside, the farmhouse has a plank and muntin partition with moulded members and a two-panel door, as well as an ovolo moulded beam. The staircase features a two-panel door and splat balusters. The barn is constructed of stone rubble and has paired doors along with a cow house door, and it includes some ventilation shafts.
