Description
This group of four tombs is located approximately 14 meters to the south of St Mary's Church in Broughton-in-Furness. They date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are made of ashlar stone.
One chest tomb is dedicated to Elizabeth Pritt, who died in 1765, her husband Nicholas, who died in 1779, and their son Sawrey, who died in 1782, along with his wife Mary, who died in 1789. To the east, there is another chest tomb featuring rusticated pilaster strips and fielded panels, which records James, the son of Sawrey and Mary Pritt, along with his wife and children in a tabular format, with dates of death ranging from 1795 to 1844, including later additions up to 1891.
To the south, there are two table tombs, each adorned with six balusters and moulded edges; the inscriptions on these tombs are illegible. The southernmost table tomb features a relief of a cherub and crossed bones.
