Description
Old Farm Cottage, also known as St Martin's YHA Cottage, dates back to 1692, as indicated by a plaster panel. The building is constructed of white-washed stone rubble and features a slate roof with two low storeys. It has small-paned casement windows that are irregularly spaced, with six on the upper floor and five on the lower floor in the original farmhouse section, which is now the Old Farm Cottage and YHA Cottage. There are also two modern glazed doors. To the right of the cottage is St Martin's, which is slightly higher, also white-washed, and includes a small gabled porch, one small-paned casement window on the ground floor, and two 16-paned sash windows above. The cottage has a rear wing. Note that the Youth Hostel itself is a later building located to the left. For additional context, refer to the general group description under Elterwater.
