Description
Becksteps consists of three whitewashed stone rubble cottages that share a slate roof and were originally built as cottages for quarrymen. The buildings are two storeys tall and feature four square 16-paned sash windows on each floor, with a slate dripstone above the entire ground floor. There is one modern glazed door and one older boarded door, both accessed by three steps and covered by lean-to slate hoods. The cottage at No. 3, located at the right end and positioned lower down the hill, is smaller and has a glazed door with a slate hood, along with one 6-paned sash window on each floor. There is also a small later lean-to on the end. For additional context regarding the group, please refer to the general group description under Elterwater.
