Description
This is a barn located approximately 80 meters north of Thorphinsty Hall, possibly dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a slate roof. The barn consists of five bays and features a part-demolished lean-to outbuilding on the south side, along with a large open-fronted building from the 20th century to the north. The south side includes one remaining plastered cheek for the barn doors, five rectangular openings to the left, and a small lean-to outshut. Both gable ends have ventilation slots; the east gable end has a blocked entrance with a cambered timber lintel and pigeon loft entrances with ledges. The north side features a winnowing door and additional ventilation slots. Inside, there are raised cruck trusses with trenched principal rafters, tie beams, and collars.
