Description
This listing describes a row of three houses and a former barn located on the north side of The Green in Askham. The buildings date from the early 19th century and feature rendered walls that are partly painted. They are topped with a graduated greenslate roof and have brick chimney stacks. Each house is two storeys high and consists of two bays, while the barn, which is lower and has two bays, is now partly used for domestic purposes.
Each house has a central 20th-century door and sash windows with glazing bars, all set in painted stone surrounds. The barn includes a left plank door and a sash window with glazing bars, both in painted stone surrounds, as well as a right segmental arched doorway that now has a central solid stone pier.
There is a lean-to garage on the right, but it is not considered of interest. This group of buildings helps to frame the view at the eastern end of the village green.
