Description
The maypole, located to the south-west of the church, was erected in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. It features a chamfered sandstone plinth topped by a tapered cast-iron column that stands approximately 30 feet high. The column has a moulded, splayed base with a crown in low relief just above it, and it narrows above a collar, adorned with four foliate lugs. A brass plaque on the west side of the plinth is inscribed: "IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 60TH YEAR OF THE REIGN OF QUEEN VICTORIA 1837-1897."
