Description

Mite Villa is a small house, likely dating from the early to mid-19th century, and altered subsequently. It is constructed with white painted roughcast on a granite rubble base, and has a graduated Cumberland slate roof. The house follows a single-depth double-fronted plan with small additions at each end. It has two low storeys and two windows. A square-headed doorway, with a plain black painted surround and a recessed four-panel door, is offset to the left of centre. A smaller doorway with a similar door is positioned to the right. The windows have plain black surrounds; the ground floor window to the left is a 16-pane un-horned sash, while the others are now top-hung casements with glazing bars (9 panes to the right and 6 panes at the first floor). The roof has oversailing eaves and verges, with rendered ridge and gable chimneys, all featuring water-tabling. Single-storey lean-to additions extend from both gable walls, the left-hand one containing a square window, and the right-hand one altered to form a garage. The property is set within a group and is included for group value alongside the Long Ridge farm buildings.
