Description

The boundary wall to the farmyard at Long Rigg Farm, likely built in 1903 for Lord Ree of Gatehouse, is constructed of random granite rubble. It connects the farmhouse, stable block, barn, pigsties, and a multi-functional range, enclosing an approximately rectangular farmyard. The wall stands about 2 meters high and features rubble battlements. It includes gateways between the farmhouse and stable, the stable and barn, and between the pigsties and the multi-functional range. Additionally, there are steps leading up to a small gateway at the northeast corner, situated between the pigsties and the barn. This wall contributes to the overall unity of the model farm and is noted for its group value.
