Description

The Marshall Monument is a chest tomb located approximately 4 metres north of All Saints' Church in Matterdale, Watermillock. It dates from 1845 and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features a double-chamfered base and plain panels on the sides. The top slab is plain and has large, deeply-cut lettering that commemorates John Marshall, who died in 1845, and his wife, Jane, who died in 1847.
