Description

Tudor Cottage is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th to 17th century and has been extensively altered in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of red sandstone random rubble and features a double Roman tiled roof. The left gable end is made of brick, and there is a large lateral stack at the center with a rebuilt stone chimney. An oval chimney, which has been rebuilt, rises from a square base on the eaves end bay to the right.

The layout of the cottage may have originally been three cells with a cross passage. There are two entrances on the facade that have been blocked and relocated to an outshut at the rear. The cottage has two storeys and is arranged in a 2:2 bay configuration. On the left side, there is a three-light ovolo moulded mullioned window set below the eaves, and a 20th-century leaded two-light casement window that rises through the eaves. To the right of the stack, there are two early 19th-century leaded iron casements with two lights each, and a similar small window on the ground floor to the left. There is a large lateral three-light window to the left of the stack, a 20th-century leaded window to the right, and a 20th-century rebuild beyond the left gable end.
