Description
The wall on the south side of Priory Green, extending from the Tithe Barn and across the front of Nos 5 and 7 Priory Green, dates from the early 19th century. It consists of two sections. The section from the Barn is approximately 10 feet high and is made of rubble red sandstone. There is a doorway leading to the church garden, featuring a pointed oak frame and a wooden lintel, with wrought ironwork above the doorway that includes a lantern. The lower section of the wall in front of Nos 5 and 7 is constructed from squared random rubble and has brick saddle back coping, with freestone used for the gate reveals. A later wooden gate is also present. This wall is included for its group value.
