SS74NW STOCK ROAD, Lynton 858-1/2/49 (East side) 03/09/73 Stockwater Farmhouse and attached stable block (Formerly Listed as: LYNTON STOCK ROAD Stockwater Farmhouse)

Farmhouse with attached stable. Mid or late C18. Rubble, slate roof, stone stacks. A long wide-span range immediately beside the road, with symmetrical domestic end to the right, and stable to the left, with bank barn added beyond. 2 storeys, the main range 1+3 windows. At the eaves, far left, a small 2-light casement with leading, then three 2-light, with some glazing bars. The ground floor has a low stable door and a lofty opening with door and transom light, two 2-light casements to concrete lintels flank a plank door on 3 steps and in deep reveals. A lean-to to the right has a small vent above a plank door with side-light. There is a square ridge stack to the left of the main domestic range, and to the right gable, which is slate-hung above the slated lean-to. The rear wall is plain, with some 2-light casements. The barn, built separately and slightly higher than the remainder, has 3 elliptical arched openings with rough stone voussoirs below a loading door, and a corresponding door at the upper level on the far side.
