Description

St Gudula's Cross is a late medieval cross located on Old Totnes Road in Ashburton. It is made of granite and consists of two square monoliths that taper and have chamfered sides. Three of the four sides feature convex stops. The right arm of the cross is mutilated, and there is a long shallow oblong recess on the west face of the head. The plinth appears to be constructed from stone rubble, with a kerb made of roughly-shaped granite blocks. The cross was reassembled and erected in its current position in 1923.
