Description
Tudor Lodge is a house located on Western Road in Ashburton, dating from the 17th century with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building has rendered walls, some of which are likely timber-framed, and the upper part of the right side wall is slate-hung. It features slated roofs and rendered chimneys. The structure consists of a short range that runs parallel to the road, with a projecting front wing at the right-hand end. To the right of this wing is a short stretch of courtyard wall that connects to a single-storey range, which is probably from the 19th century and runs at right angles to the road. The house has two storeys, except for the single-storey range on the right. The left-hand section of the front has been slightly extended, featuring a 19th-century doorway on the left with a sash window above it, consisting of three panes over six panes. The building has deep projecting eaves and a dormer gable on the left. The wing is gabled with a jettied upper storey, and the ground storey has a wood casement window with thick glazing bars in the upper part. There is also an eight-paned sash window in the left side wall, and the upper storey has 19th-century wood casements. The interior reportedly retains some 17th-century features.
