Description
The Victoria Inn is a public house located on North Street in Ashburton, dating from the early 19th century. The front of the building is rendered, while the upper storeys are likely timber-framed. The left side wall has an exposed section that is slate-hung, and the roof is slated. There is a large rendered chimney on the right gable end and two additional chimneys on the rear wall. The building stands three storeys high and is three windows wide.
On the ground storey, there is a doorway off-centre to the right, flanked by pilasters and an entablature, featuring a door with nine flush panels. To either side of the doorway are two late 19th century or early 20th century mullioned-and-transomed windows. To the left, there is a cart entrance with double plank doors. The upper storey windows are fitted with 8-paned sashes, and there are two sash windows with two panes per sash in the left side wall. The eaves are boxed with a cornice.
