Description
These are terraced cottages located at 4-13 Great Bridge, built in the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed with solid rendered walls and feature slated roofs, except for Nos. 8 and 9, which have corrugated asbestos roofs. Stone rubble chimneys, some of which are rendered, are situated on the party walls between the pairs. The buildings are two storeys high, with each pair consisting of three windows and a common doorway in the center; the upper storey window above the doorway is blind. Most windows have 8-paned sashes, while Nos. 4, 5, and 12 have barred triple sashes on the ground floor and, in the case of No. 12, two-paned sashes on the upper storey. The old 6-panel doors are found at Nos. 4 and 5, 6 and 7, and 10 and 11. The interiors have not been inspected, but a description from 1973 of No. 11 mentions first-floor 4-panel doors with hand-wrought panels, a wooden mantel with ogee brackets, and window seats.
