Description
No. 85 East Street is a house from the mid-19th century, possibly a refacing of an earlier structure. It has rendered walls that are designed to look like masonry and a slated roof. There are red-brick chimneys on each gable end and on the rear wing. The house is likely double-fronted and double-depth, with a rear wing to the left. It stands three storeys high and is three windows wide. The central doorway features panelled pilasters and a cornice supported by consoles, with panelled reveals and a six-panelled door, where the two bottom panels are flush and the two top panels are now glazed. There are canted bays with dentilled cornices on either side. The upper storey windows are adorned with flanking panelled pilasters and shaped aprons. A cornice runs above each storey, and there are panelled pilasters at each end. The windows throughout the house are two-paned sashes.
