Description
The Ashburton Hotel, which includes a conservatory on the left side, is a house that has been converted into a hotel. It dates from the mid-19th century and features rendered solid walls, with the top of the right gable wall being slate-hung. The building has a hipped slated roof and rendered chimneys on each gable wall. It stands three storeys tall and is three windows wide, although the second storey lacks a middle window. The ground storey has horizontal channelling, masonry markings, and raised quoins above. It features a round-arched central doorway flanked by panelled pilasters, with sunk spandrels and an exaggerated keystone, leading to a four-panelled door. There are triple-sashed windows on either side of the doorway. The second-storey windows have sashes with moulded architraves and patterned iron balconies, while the third-storey windows also have sashes and flanking pilasters. All sashes are designed with a single upright glazing-bar and there is a boxed eaves-cornice. To the left of the main building is a late 19th-century conservatory, which is adorned with coloured glass and an ornate iron finial.
