Description

No. 6 Church Street is a small, narrow-fronted house that has been converted into a shop with a flat above. It dates from the 16th century and was likely raised in height during the 17th century. The building features a timber frame with plaster panels and a tiled roof. It has a side-entry right-angle plan, with a gable facing the street. The structure jetties out and has a hipped roof, with low ceiling heights. It stands three storeys tall and has a single window on each floor. The windows are three-light casements, with the first floor also featuring a transom and small lights on the returns. The upper structure is framed with vertical small panels and mid rails, jettied over a 20th-century two-light shop front that includes a glazed door to the left.

Inside, both party walls are constructed with square panel framing that extends to the full height of the building. The front wall has been heavily restored, with mostly new timbers added in 1991. There are no visible fireplaces or stacks.
