Description

The Manor House is a detached house that dates back to the 15th century or earlier, with 17th and 20th-century alterations. It features square-panelled timber-framing with painted brick and rendered infill, and has an L-shaped plan. The 15th-century range runs parallel to the main road, while a jettied 17th-century wing extends at right angles to the right. There are single-storey 20th-century extensions around the rear right-hand corner, which are not of special interest.

The 15th-century range is 1½ storeys high, with the upper floor lit by two eyebrow dormers, one on each side of the house. The front dormer contains a 20th-century sash window with horizontal glazing bars. There is a single light with a round-headed surround below the eaves on the far right. A 20th-century thatched gabled porch with a 19th-century part-glazed door is located towards the left end of the house.

The 17th-century wing is two storeys and has an attic. Its gable end jetties out above the eaves level, with the timber-framing concealed. The right-hand wall features a slight jetty at the first-floor level. There is an axial stack with sawtooth decoration and a projecting composite gable-end stack. The left gable end of the 15th-century range is hipped. Inside, there is a 17th-century panelled room and at least one crunk truss, which is probably raised, located one bay from the hipped gable end of the 15th-century range.
