Description

Manor Cottage and Wysteria Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century. They feature square-panelled timber framing with rendered infill set on a coursed squared and dressed limestone plinth, along with coursed squared and dressed limestone and a stone slate roof. The overall plan is 'T'-shaped.

The cottages are one and a half storeys high. The roadside front includes, from left to right, a 20th-century canted oriel window with glazing bars and a raking concrete tile roof, a 20th-century top-opening 9-pane casement window, a 3-light 20th-century casement window with glazing bars, a single-light casement with a horizontal glazing bar, another 20th-century top-opening 9-pane casement, and two 3-pane casements located just below the eaves on the upper right. There are also two 20th-century three-light dormers with glazing bars.

The north-facing gable end features a three-light wooden casement with horizontal glazing bars and two small 2-light casements in the attic. The west-facing gable of Manor Cottage has stonework that includes reused moulded stones, one of which has finely carved blind tracery. Wysteria Cottage has a projecting gable-end stack, while Manor Cottage has both an axial and a gable-end stack. An interior inspection of Manor Cottage revealed no features of special interest, and the interior of Wysteria Cottage has not been inspected.
