Description

Manor Farmhouse is a large house dating from the 17th century. It features squared-panelled and close-studded timber framing with rendered and painted brick infill, coursed squared and dressed limestone, and a red brick stack. The main body of the house is rectangular with a projecting jettied gable on the far left and a hall at right angles to the rear left. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the rear, which is not of special interest.

The house has two storeys. The entrance front showcases the jettied gable that projects forward to the left, which includes a 20th-century rectangular oriel window with a transom on the ground floor and a 20th-century cross window above. To the right, there are a 20th-century three-light and a one four-light casement window with a transom. The entrance features a 20th-century plank door with fillets leading towards the projecting jettied gable, flanked by single-light casements. Above, there is a large two-light wooden casement. The right side of the house has four two-light wooden casements and one single-light casement, along with a large timber-framed eaves dormer that has decorative timber framing and a blocked window.

The south-facing elevation includes the hall with an ashlar-built ground floor to the left, featuring a large rectangular bay window with wooden mullions and transoms. There is a projecting stack on the opposite side and a timber-framed eaves dormer with decorative timber framing to the left. The gable end has a projecting stack, and there are axial stacks as well.

Inside, there are remnants of a 17th-century moulded cornice and a 17th-century panelled dado. The open hall has a coffered ceiling at eaves level, and the interior displays exposed close-studded and square-panelled timber framing.
