Description

The School House is a building located at the end of a row in Dumbleton Village, dating from the mid-18th century and extended in the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with a red tile roof and features a brick stack. The building has a rectangular plan with a later extension added to the north gable end. The main section is two storeys high with an attic, while the extension is also two storeys.

On the ground floor of the main body, there is a canted bay window with glazing bars, and a blocked doorway to the right. Above, there is a segmental-headed three-light casement window with glazing bars, and at the rear, there are two segmental-headed three-light windows, one of which has glazing bars. The attic is lit by a two-light casement at the south gable end. The extension features two and three-light segmental-headed casements, along with one blocked single-light casement.

Access to the building is now through a single-storey lean-to at the east front of the extension. Both parts of the building exhibit sawtooth brickwork at the eaves, and there are S-ended tie bars, brick gable-end coping, and a projecting stack on the main body, as well as a large projecting gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
