Description
The Thatched Cottage is a detached house, likely built in the mid 17th century to early 18th century. It features timber framing that has been rendered, with coursed squared and dressed limestone. A visible plinth can be seen at the gable end facing the road. The cottage has a thatched roof with decorative ridge thatching, while an extension has a red tile roof and brick stacks.
The building has a rectangular plan with a later extension at right angles to the rear and is one and a half storeys high. The south front has two windows, including three segmental 19th-century three-light windows with 20th-century shutters on the ground floor. There are two eyebrow dormers on the first floor, one of which is from the 19th century, and a timber wall plate is visible below these windows. Additionally, there is a two-light segmental-headed casement window in the gable end facing the road at first floor level. The north-facing elevation features a 20th-century raking dormer with two 20th-century two-light casements. The cottage has lateral and projecting stacks, and the gable end facing the road has a half hip.
