Description

This is a house dating from the later 18th century, situated on Castle Terrace in Bridgnorth. It is constructed of browny red brick, with the front and left end whitewashed, and has a plain tile roof with a brick rear stack. The house has a wedge-shaped plan, fitting between two alleyways and tapering to the left. It extends over two storeys with an attic and basement, the rear ground level being lower. The front elevation has a two-window range, featuring a one-light casement, a partially glazed door, a four-pane sash window, and a two-light casement. A small extension with a partially glazed door is located on the left end, and a 20th-century bow window is on the end. Above the main range is a 12-pane sash window, and an 18th century sash-type window in the attic. The attic gable has a half-round brick coping. The rear of the property features a 19th-century canted bay window supported by cast-iron brackets, and two six-pane sash windows. A slightly projecting brick stack has a plank door and barred overlight at its base, and a 20th-century dormer is also present. The eave line is dentilled. The interior, which was not inspected, is understood to contain spine beams, a timber-framed partition, and old purlins. Number 3 occupies a prominent corner location.
