Description
Tythe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a stone slate roof, although the back slope is tiled and has a coped gable with stacks that were raised in 19th-century brickwork. The building has a broad main block and a deep wing on the right that is slightly lower. It stands two storeys high, with an attic and a basement, and has a four-windowed façade. The windows include two-light casement gabled dormers and flush surround chamfered mullion and transom casements with leading to rectangular panes. In the third bay, there is a part glazed early 20th-century door set within a stone Doric pedimented doorcase. The wing also has two storeys and an attic, featuring late 20th-century dormers above two-windowed reserved chamfer mullioned casements, with a similar window located in the staircase of the main block. The interior has not been seen but is reputed to contain a fine staircase.
