Description
Lynch Lane Farmhouse, now a house, dates to the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, some squared, with a rebuilt north gable of good quality stone, some rendered walling, and is covered with stone slate on the road-facing slope, with concrete tiles on the opposite slope. A prominent ashlar stack is visible in the north gable. The main block has one coped gable, with a further extension situated beneath a cat-slide roof to the left and rear. The front of the house, facing the road, is two storeys and has an attic. At the first floor are two two-light and one single-light casement windows, dating to the 20th century. On the ground floor, one two-light chamfered mullion casement and one three-light ovolo moulded casement, both with stepped drips, are present. The gable on the right-hand side has a 19th century "lancet" window in the roof, and two two-light ovolo moulded casements with stepped drips. The west front retains one two-light ovolo moulded casement with a stepped drip, positioned low down on the left side, with replacement windows elsewhere. A late 20th century door is centrally located. The extension includes another 20th century door and a gabled dormer. Inside, the house features heavy timber framing, likely related to an original cross passage, along with some chamfered joists and an open bressummer fire in the north gable.
